Ho Chi Minh 1/2

Day 1

Arrived late and in a big downpour - first stop after drying off was for the first of many pho, then to Bui Vien Walking Street for some 70p beers! Most of the bars were pretty chaotic with terrible EDM & gogo dancers but there were also some better ones with live bands - good fun but not something you’d want to do often. Ended with a late night banh mi 😋

Day 2

Slow day so just chilled about and ate lots, was hot and sweaty - a big change from skiing in Hakuba the week before!

• Com tam (broken rice) for brekky.
• Then headed to the markets to haggle for some sliders and get some lunch
• bun thit nuong for dinner - so good
• back to the hostel to do a bit of socialising

Ho Chi Minh 2/2

Day 3

Started the day with a huge banh mi from banh mi hunh hoa (one of the famous spots) so so good but probs only needed half of one - 5 different types of pork 🤣

Then we went to the War Remnants Museum, a pretty brutal exhibition which left us feeling a bit deflated.

Went to Nguyễn Huệ walking street to see the statue of the main man uncle Ho and have cocktails at a converted apartment block.

Day 4

Day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, a network of tunnels and bases used by the Viet Cong in the war - very interesting and cool to walk through - though they’ve apparently widened them to accommodate western tourists 😂

Quy Nhon

Nice few days chilling at the beach and at the hostel.

• Got some banh xeo (Vietnamese pancakes) in Quy Nhon town
• won a free cocktail at hostel games night, no methanol
• Nina got a tan, I did not
